The University of Graz,
which was founded in 1585, is one of Austria’s largest, most venerable and most
innovative universities with about 22,000 students and 3,500 employees in
research, teaching and administration. Diversity and a wide variety characterise
the educational offer at six faculties. Our students can choose from more than
70 bachelor’s, master’s, diploma and doctoral programmes.
As a state-of-the-art
scientific and academic institution, the University of Graz combines top
international research in several fields, particularly in the biosciences,
nanosciences as well as mathematical optimisation. Decades of cooperation with
partner institutions of South-Eastern European countries have led to the
establishment of the university-wide focus on “South-Eastern Europe”, which is
unique in the German-speaking area.
The initiation of partner
programs makes the University of Graz an important driving force in Styria.
Under the motto of “European Excellence 'made in Styria'”, the University
of Graz and Graz University of Technology promote outstanding scientific
research and teaching by their strategic cooperation called NAWI Graz.
